Learn some new skills and enjoy a relaxing paddle around the local Sussex rivers, taking in the sights of the villages and countryside, and enjoy the abundant wildlife from a rarely experienced viewpoint.

The experience starts with a skills class which both novice’s and those that have paddle boarded. This is ideal for complete beginners or those who have tried paddleboarding but may not have been taught the correct techniques. Starting with the very basics of posture, balance and paddle control, the lesson gives you all of the basic skills you need to take up paddle boarding.

We’ll then set off down the military canal for a relaxing paddle. Of course, being a Gallivant paddle boarding day means we will have a special lunch set up for you en-route with of head chef Jamie’s take on a packed lunch! Before picking up the pace a little for our paddle back to the start point.

As well as being a really fun day out, the skills you learn at the beginning and by being out with a qualified SUP guide means that you will qualify for the British Stand Up Paddleboard Association ‘Ready to Ride’ certificate. This certificate can be shown at most paddle board centres around the country and you will be able to hire a board and go out on waterways straightaway.

About stand-up paddle boarding (SUP)
Stand up Paddleboarding or ‘SUP’ for short is one of the fastest growing waters sports in the world. Using a large, stable board (similar to a surfboard) and a single blade paddle you can navigate your way along coastlines, rivers and lakes. You can paddle on your knees or on your feet if you have the balance, the great thing about an SUP is that it offers flexibility for the rider unlike some traditional water sports. It is a great way to experience the outdoors and an enjoyable means of getting some good, whole body exercise.
