Hi Elise,

I can honestly say our stay with you was fantastic. I called to say we were going to be late on Friday and everyone was aware and very flexible. We didn't feel rushed, and I'm aware we were probably last to sit down for dinner. I don't know the name of the girl that was on reception and I can't find her on your site, but she was great.

The food throughout the weekend was really good. We were talking about which dish we liked best on Sunday and it was all really good. Great service from Corey, Lucy and Elton.

The room was perfect for a couple of nights and fitted in really well with the relaxed seaside feel.

One thing I was unsure about was having to book dinner and breakfast times in advance, but actually worked really well and gave us a little bit of structure.

I'd love to give you some constructive feedback, but I really can't fault it. We had a great time.

Thanks,
Tim.

Hi Elise
We had a lovely stay made even better by arriving on a stormy night, having booked at short notice and not really researched where we would be, other than on the coast near Rye. We love the interiors and furnishings. the cosy room and the food which was excellent. The wine waiter was entertaining and so knowledgeable.

Ok so here are a couple of tiny observations. No one was around at 11 am check out time and there were three couples/individuals waiting including ourselves. We had an appointment in Dover so we had to leave.

Did not quite understand the bag by door tea arrangement so when we woke and took the bag in we found only herb tea and luke warm water. Obviously water must have boiling water for tea and we do like milk and a tad of sugar. This may have been our fault, I am not sure.

Our next night was at The Pig in Bridge where of course the rooms are huge so having room for tea making facilities was not a problem, for example fridge, kettle, coffee machine and so on. But they did however only offer gluten free biscuits which were like compressed sawdust.

I only mention this as I know it is important to cater for all tastes these days, but hotels must take care not to be so up to date that they forget the majority.

We will definitely come again and have already recommended you to our family and friends.

Regards

The only thing was the water. Forgot every time to bring our bottles from the room to the restaurant so we were always thirsty at night. Water in fridge would have been useful. The room was very hot but on second night we slept with garden door open. That did the trick. But we loved it and will recommend it highly

The Gallivant, you didn’t disappoint, in fact expectations were exceeded. The room was fabulous and cosy, the food exquisite (oh so much amazing food!), the wine divine (I now have a favourite English wine thanks to the wine tasting), the yoga with Sally was relaxing and invigorating, the Peloton area was perfect, restaurant calm and inviting, fireplace seating too comfy to leave and the snug was my favourite room with cosy seats, books to read and games to play. Staff were attentive and on hand if needed. The only negative was I didn’t stay long enough.

A special thanks to Naketa who was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable and made me feel like I was welcomed into someone’s luxurious home. Nothing was a problem. Thanks also to Lucy.

FAQs

Here to help

If you can’t find the answer to your question please drop us a line or two and we’ll respond within a matter of hours.

What is included your room rate?

Depends what room rate you have booked….

The Essential Gallivant includes a simple continental style breakfast, House supper or £15 credit per person towards our a la carte menu, English Wine at 5 – a glass of English wine to enjoy and whatever wellness class(es) are on that day, normally yoga.

The Complete Gallivant also includes a much more amazing breakfast of cooked dishes from the kitchen, three courses from our a la carte at dinner and We Have Drift Off sleepy time tea by your bed at bedtime.

What are the check in and check out times?

Our check in time is 4pm and check out 11am. If you would like to come earlier (or stay later) to have lunch or a drink at the bar that’s absolutely fine. You can either leave your bags in the car or we’ll look after them until your bedroom is ready or you’re ready to go.
