Morning Elise,
Just wanted to say on behalf of myself, my wife Michelle and friends David, Maca and Marta that we had a rollicking good time with you over the New Year's holiday.
Michelle and I joined you for three nights in room 20. It was a wonderfully comfortable, quiet and spotless room to lounge and hide from the pounding rain and winds outside. The amenities were perfect and very thoughtful, including the nighttime sleepy tea delivery.
The library, bar, chill out areas and restaurant were equally peaceful and welcoming spots for us to while away the hours. The decor throughout was cozy, imaginative, spot on with the overall Gallivant brand. You somehow manage to capture the best of what a Soho House property tries to deliver, while avoiding the pretentiousness that often accompanies such places.
We enjoyed a couple of yoga sessions with India — a very light and agreeable level given the occasion and the variety of skills in the room.
And we enjoyed refreshingly long walk out to Camber Sands and into Rye on New Year's Day.
Now then, onto the real stars. Every single member of your staff was a gem. Each in their own way, and yet all of them contributed to the collective Gallivant experience.
Whatever wonderful voodoo you use to recruit, train and retain your colleagues, it's the not-so-subtle secret to your success.
Lindsay and Georgina's smiles and easy morning banter were the tonics that kicked off each new day.
Felix was an all-round superstar; seemingly on hand at every hour of the day and night. Always with a smile and a good bit of conversation. Excellent whether helping with menu and drink selections, or just keeping the wheels of the operation turning during an exceptionally busy time.
Paul B was a fascinating font of wine knowledge, keen on making sure we were happy with pairings throughout all of our meals. His selections were always spot on, and it was a pleasure to get to know a bit about his background.
Jonathan was also quick with an order behind the bar and never appeared to be outpaced or rushed. A real cool character.
Speaking of characters, Scott was a wonderful raconteur and a great companion to see us through 2022 and into the early hours of 2023.
Agnes, Paige, Louisa, Kiranjeet… all of your amazing and tireless team. Wish we could've remembered all of their names. But everyone deserves a massive thank you for delivering so flawlessly during such a busy stretch of days and nights.
And finally, our warmest thanks to your chef and his team. We had the pleasure of meeting him briefly on our final day and sisters Macarena and Marta were none too surprised to find that a fellow Spaniard was responsible for so much magic coming from the kitchen.
We were recommended to The Gallivant by our dear neighbours Jonathan Sandler and Martin Bell. They know just the kind of fun we like to get up to, and they couldn't have sent us to a better place to celebrate the New Year.
Oh, and one last thing…, great work keeping the piano in tune. Another amazing little detail that did not go unnoticed, or unappreciated.
