Warmest thanks to all the team. My husband and I had been planning to come to the Gallivant anyway, but hit on a different plan when a very dear friend of ours, who's near the end of her life with jaw cancer, said she'd love nothing so much as some time by the sea. I spoke on the 'phone to Agnes to see if it would be possible to accommodate our friend's very restricted diet. Some hotels might have baulked at this point, or said 'OK' with little enthusiasm. But after checking with the chef, Agnes came back to say they'd be happy to oblige. In fact, the kitchen team rose to the challenge brilliantly, with all sorts of creative ideas and concoctions which really lifted our friend's spirits and nourished her. The serving staff too were always cheerful, helpful and accommodating – reception staff similarly. I can only name Anna, Gareth, Elton, Jamie and Paul B – and Corey on reception – but I'm aware we owe our thanks to a wider team as well, not least the bedroom staff. All went over and beyond what we might have hoped for: cheerful, diplomatic, flexible and accommodating at every turn. It was a challenge which you all rose to brilliantly.
